Oksana Shachko

Oksana Shachko ((ウクライナ語:Оксана Шачко); born Khmelnytskyi 31 January 1987) is a Ukrainian artist and activist with FEMEN. She was one of the founders of FEMEN in April 2008, along with Anna Hutsol and Alexandra Shevchenko. Shachko had been born in Khmelnytskyi but had moved to Kiev.〔http://blogs.reuters.com/photographers-blog/2012/03/01/the-femen-phenomenon/〕 FEMEN initially protested about issues affecting women students, but rapidly moved on to demonstrating against the sexual exploitation of Ukrainian women.〔http://www.neweasterneurope.eu/node/42〕 and against sex tourism in 2008.〔(Feminine Femen targets 'sexpats' ), Kyiv Post (May 22, 2009)〕〔(How they protest prostitution in Ukraine ), France 24 (August 28, 2009)〕 Initially Femen gained attention by demonstrating while dressed in underwear: however, in August 2009 Shachko bared her breasts at a protest in Kiev.〔 (Femen Les féministes venues du froid ), Paris Match (February 18, 2012)〕 Since then FEMEN activists have regularly protested ‘topless’, and broadened their agenda to women's rights and civil rights in Ukraine and around the world.〔( FEMEN activist Supports the Egyptian Revolution )〕 Shachko co-operated with French writer Galia Ackerman who produced a history of 'FEMEN' which was published by Calmann-Lévy in 2013.
